The Homeless...

Recently, while I was working in the flower beds in the front yard, my liberal neighbors stopped to chat as they were walking their dog. During the conversation, I asked their seven-year-old daughter what she wanted to be when she grew up. She said she wanted to be President some day.

So I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people."

Her parents beamed with pride!

"Wow, what a worthy goal," I said. "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that."

"What do you mean?" she asked.

I told her, "You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I'll pay you $50. Then you can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out and give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

I smiled and said, "Welcome to the Libertarian Party."

Her parents aren't speaking to me anymore.

ha! Common sense is hard to find nowadays, isn't it? Kids can see it but grownups? Sometimes, not so much.

Have yourself a fabulous day! big hugs xoxo

I love this Sandee ... puts everything in perspective. More people need to ask that little girl's question, cause it's a good one!

Sandee- Wow I was expecting a different outcome!...While this is true...wouldn't it be fantastic if you could get that kind of response from not only kids but the majority of adults as well!?

I think if you did a man on the street Q&A...results would be different...which is just one of our problems...

Very interesting. Two questions:

What choices did the homeless man make to end up where he is?

What choices to we make that keep him there?

Just asking.

Why don't you tell us the answers to your questions. Just saying.

You pay good wages, Sandee. Don't tell my gardener or he will move to California and work for you.

(He is legal so you'd like him. His wife just now after waiting since 1989 was able to get a 'spousal visa' and will soon be here to live with and help her husband. Hopefully from five to ten years she can become an U.S. citizen. She already is an American.)

My gardner has his own home on an acreage and two rent houses in town. He is a hard worker.

Forgot to ask what you have against Libertarians?

My buddy, Ron Paul, from South Texas is one and for the last time has run for president ending a perennial 12-year stint as Libertarian and Libertarian Republican nominee campaign.

Simple common sense and truth are the hardest things for liberals to understand. Truth and Utopia are polar opposites.

Out of the mouths of babes. It's a shame us adults complicate issues so much when the answers are often quite simple

Wow, I didn't see that coming lol! Good one, and yes sometimes kids see what we can't!

Regardless of the system, there are those who would rather try to beat the system than actually live within the system.
Some are perfectly happy getting a welfare check and watch game shows all day instead of getting a real paycheck and have friends that are co-workers. Just sayin'.

Many homeless people are mentally ill, many cannot hold a job even if they want to. There are more vacant houses then there are homeless people. Somehow the joke just doesn't seem funny right now.
